a dose of Indian Fashion!

The past month while I was fighting to get connected on the internet and get back on the blogosphere....
I tried a few things that I had been itching to give a shot!
Just an update on a few illustrations that I have been working on....
playing with Photoshop textures and trying to perfect my techniques.

this time I tried a few Indian style fashion illustrations..from the Lakme India Fashion Week

... an echoing "hellooooo....." from the Deserts!

……..aaaaand my home has been spun around yet again!!!
(the reason for my long silence…)
and I am still spinning, wondering whether I am going to land on my head or my feet!!
Our two fantastic years of the "American Dream" stay in New York, is over and we are back where we belong… in the midst of the chaos and confusion and the HOT dusty bylanes of Rajasthan, India!
It still seems that the two years were a dream, they went by in just a blink of an eye with only a very mild American twang in the kids' voices to remind us that just a few weeks back we were living in by far the best and the most vibrant city that I have ever been to…
Oh New York I am going to miss you!
The biggest withdrawal symptom as soon as we landed was my inability to connect.. whether by phone (cantonments are famous or rather infamous for their network jamming) or through the internet….
and after being connected 24x7 with my friends, clients, and my blog for two years… no network connection in any form was like someone had tied my hands behind my back and I felt like a grouchy grumbly bear pacing the floor of the guest rooms waiting to get to an internet cafe so my web withdrawal could be satiated…
Everything else didnt matter..the noise, the smells, the traffic and the incessant honking(we were in Delhi for the first two weeks)…
(and for my frenz in Delhi before you send me hate mails-me and hubby had one phone between us, so I was sans phone and internet the whole day)
we bonded with family after a two year long separation...talked non stop!
we gorged on Chat, and kababs and gulabjamuns… and everything else in between...
our stomachs protested noisily-we all had a dose of antacids… and gorged yet again!
we also did the jig of joy on spotting a Dunkin Donuts in a mall!!
.....
and now we are where we are supposed to be, for a coupla years….
in the colorful land of the desert…
hmmm....
or so I thought till I saw the unlimited expanse of only stone and sand....all in the same yellow brown sandy hue...
and can you believe that our entire cantonement is also covered with the same color brush?
where was the bright splashes color that I had been naively looking forward to?
okay so I should have been prepared for no greenery and the heat-after all I was coming to the desert state...
but the harsh sunlight reflected back from the caked sandy earth definitely needs some getting used to!
The quaint and small, sleepy town nearby really doesnt have much going for it except for the fort that its built inside...
but then give me a few weeks...
I am hoping my gung ho nature and overly optimistic attitude to life in general, will make me like this place....   eventually!
and then I will give you all the thumbs up to come visiting... :-)
The one positive thing at the moment is that I am back at my computer and connected once again… albeit sporadically (the internet cable is yet to be installed properly)
and another and more positive point is that I am being thoroughly spoilt...
After being the glorified maid for 2 years and trying desperately to steal half an hour for myself...
its good to finally put up my feet and have someone else do everything for me...
I finally have the time to read that book...
pamper myself for a couple of hours at a beauty parlour...
not lift a finger and have a gourmet meal at the table...
yesss....
I think its finally good to be home!
I leave you with just a few photos that I managed to take of our surroundings......

Yenjoy!
